Hawkins acted as Bond Counsel to the Los Angeles Unified School District in its issuance of $2.97 billion general obligation refunding bonds. The Bond Buyer selected the Los Angeles Unified School District as the Far West Deal of the Year. The award recognizes the most outstanding municipal finance transaction in the Far West region. The deal was significant because, among other things, it was the largest municipal bond financing of 2024 and it will save taxpayers over 175 million dollars.
