We are sad to announce that our long-time colleague and friend, Elizabeth (Liz) O’Connell, passed away on September 13.
Liz joined Hawkins as an associate in 1985, and she became a partner in January 1989. Before joining Hawkins, she had been an Associate Counsel at the State of New York Mortgage Agency and an associate at another law firm in New York City. Prior to that, Liz was involved in low-income multi-family housing development at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
She was exceptionally bright and cared deeply about the admirable purposes underlying the many significant public finance transactions on which she worked.
We were fortunate to have such a colleague and friend. Liz will certainly be missed.
