Hawkins partner and longtime member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers (“NABL”) Chuck Toto was featured in the December 2020 edition of the NABL News “member spotlights” section. The reporter sought Chuck’s thoughts on NABL, its programs and other issues.
Chuck responded that NABL is the “premier organization” for public finance attorneys and is a great resource for continuing legal education and developing contacts with other industry professionals. In an era of limited travel and bond issues being conducted and closed electronically, he stressed that the NABL conferences are a wonderful opportunity to renew personal ties with fellow public finance attorneys. He said that serving as a chair and as a panelist at NABL conferences has been an important part of his professional development and is great opportunity to develop a deeper knowledge of the topic presented and share that knowledge with the bond lawyer community. In discussing advice to impart on other lawyers, Chuck stressed the importance of cultivating interests outside the law in order to “stretch your mind” and attain the elusive work-life balance.
