2004 Bond Buyer’s Northeast Deal of the Year
Hawkins was the Bond Counsel to the New York Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority, which won a regional award. This financing is close to Hawkins, as it contributed in revitalizing the New York City Downtown area after the September 11th attacks, a place where Hawkins has had its main office for 150 years.
This offering will help the district and the City’s revenue by refunding more than $800 Million, using triple-A rated senior lien revenue bonds, and swapping $400 Million of auction-rate securities to a synthetic fixed rate. In additional the financing provides for $100 Million for on-going projects such as a community center, and new ballfields. The lead Partner that counseled on this transaction was Mr. Bagley.
