Hawkins served as Underwriters Counsel to the 2005 Bond Buyer National Deal of the Year
The award was presented to the San Jose Redevelopment Agency for its $195 Million Tax allocation refunding bonds offering. The financing used set-aside tax allocation to maximize its impact on the low income housing supply of this expensive metropolitan area. This private activity bond structure permitted the agency to access the State California’s volume cap allocation. This financing enabled the construction of 120 units for very low income families. Partners that counseled on this transaction were Mr. Becker and Ms. Quan.
