Hawkins was Counsel to 2 of 2007 Deal of the Year Winners


Hawkins was the Purchaser's counsel in the offering by Pacific Beacon LLC, which won the national prize for innovation, nontraditional sector.

The $307 Million financing enables the United States Naval Department to privatize military housing. The "Pacific Beacon" project constitutes of 258 units of existing Navy-owned unaccompanied housing units and provides for the construction of an additional 941 two-bedroom apartments at the San Diego Naval base, including parking and amenities. The newly formed company, Pacific Beacon, LLC, will own, operate, manage, maintain, and renovate the units for a period of 50 years. Partners that counseled on this transaction included Mr. Zucker, Mr. Richard Van Dusen and Mr. Lowy.

Hawkins acted as Underwriters Counsel for the $620 Million Massachusetts Health and Educational Facilities Authority offering. The financing will enable the Partners Health Care System Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable membership corporation established under Massachusetts law, to pay and reimburse the cost of financing, acquiring, constructing and equipping various facilities for the Partners and its affiliates. Partners that counseled on this transaction included Ms. Perla and Mr. Donovan.
